STEP-UP SWITCHING REGULATOR
FOR LCD BIAS SUPPLY
The S-8330/8331 series is a CMOS PWM-control step-up
switching regulator that consists of a reference voltage
source, an oscillation circuit, a power MOS FET (for the S-
8330 series), and an error amplifier. The output voltage can
be adjusted by electronic volume. A shutdown function is
also available. The S-8330 series features low current con-
sumption due to the CMOS structure, and a step-up switch-
ing regulator can be constructed simply by externally con-
necting a coil, capacitors and a diode. The compact 8-pin
SSOP package and small number of external components
make the S-8330 series ideal for LCD bias generators in
portable equipment. For applications requiring a high output
current, the external transistor controller type S-8331 series
is also available.

• Power supply for medium-sized or large-sized LCD panels.
• Power supply for portable equipment such as pagers, pocket cal-
culators, electronic organizers, and remote controllers.
• Constant voltage power supply for cameras, video equipment, and
communications equipment.
