• Pletronics’ LC55P Series is an precision square
wave oscillator with a CMOS output.
• This rugged, all silicon design, does not rely on
vibrating or resonating mechanical structures.
• The LC55P Series is exceptionally resistant to
mechanical shock and vibration.
• This low cost oscillator is a drop in replacement for
traditional crystal oscillators in most applications.

Function Description and Block Diagram:
The LC55 oscillator series utilizes an advanced CMOS integrated
circuit for all timing and compensation. There are no vibrating or
resonating mechanical structures within the LC55. All of the
oscillators circuit elements are incorporated on a single
monolithic IC. All set-up and compensation parameters are
stored in the LC55's internal eePROM. The oscillator has very
fast start-up time from the low power standby state.
This device is an excellent, low cost, alternative to many other
frequency controlling solutions. The LC55 is especially suited to
those applications where immunity to high shock and vibration
are important.

Note
A logic low on this pin disables the oscillator output. This pin may be left open or
connected to V
CC
if the disable function is not used.
When disabled there is a weak pull-down to ground internally
Recommend connecting appropriate power supply bypass capacitors as close as
possible.
Layout and application information
For Optimum Jitter Performance, Pletronics recommends:
• a ground plane under the device.
• no transient signals be routed under the device
• do not place near magnetic sources such as switching power supplies
• do not place near piezoelectric buzzers or fans.
• place a 0.01 uF bypass capacitor as close as practical to the oscillator.
