QUICCstart 8248 Evaluation System
Overview
The MPC8248 Evaluation System is a
simple yet powerful platform that enables
evaluation and development to begin before
the target hardware is available. This kit
offers a solid platform for both hardware and
software engineers to use in evaluating and
prototyping designs that closely parallel their
final applications. The MPC8248 Evaluation
System also gives software engineers a live
target on which to begin developing and
testing application code. The MPC8248
QUICCstart evaluation system comes
complete with the board, a Linux BSP pre-
flashed, associated power supply and
cables, CodeWarrior™ Development Studio,
and CodeWarrior USB TAP run-control
device. This evaluation system has been
packaged so that you are productive within
30 minutes from unpacking the kit.

Board support packages
Because even the best hardware design
needs good software support, Freescale
provides the source code for the Linux
board support package included with this
kit. With the supplied Linux source files,
developers can fully utilize and modify the
source code for their current and future
projects.

Ordering Information
> Part Number – CWH-PPC-8248N-VE
> The CodeWarrior Development Studio in
this package is an evaluation version,
time-limited to 30 days from installation.
> Fully licensed versions of the above can
be obtained separately via your local
Freescale distributor.
All Freescale evaluation systems come with
free schematics in PDF format. These
schematics can give hardware engineers a
solid reference for use in designing their
own boards.
Tools integration
Freescale reference designs and
hardware-assisted debugging tools are
well integrated to provide a good out-of-
the-box experience. Every board has its
own board support package, so
developers can immediately begin using
all of the Freescale tools.
Experienced support
Firmware, hardware and production test
engineers can all take advantage of
Freescale’s evaluation systems and
reference designs. Firmware and hardware
engineers can adapt Freescale evaluation
systems to their own, enabling them to
reduce development time. Production test
engineers can use the board and the
included CodeWarrior software and
CodeWarrior USB TAP run-control devices
to design and prototype complex and
efficient production algorithms before the
custom hardware is prototyped.
As a supplier of evaluation systems,
reference designs and hardware-assisted
debugging tools for an array of
microprocessors, Freescale has all the
experience necessary to provide
knowledgeable, responsive application and
technical support for development projects.
