The TRPEG 1-E2 SFP series of multi-rate f
iber optic transceivers w ith
integrated digital diagnostics monitoring f
unctionality provide a quick
and reliable interf
ace f 1000BA SE-LX G igabit Ethernet and 1.062G Bd

Fibre Channel applications. The transceivers are designed to support
data rates ranging f
rom 1.25G b/s dow n to 125M b/s. The diagnostic
f
unctions,alarm and w arning f
eatures as described in the M ulti-Source
Agreement ( SA ) document,SFF-8472 (

Rev. 9.4) are provided via an I

serial interf
ace.
Four options are of ered w ith minimum optical link pow er budgets of11dB,
f
18dB,22dB and 24dB to support 10km to 80km link applications. Option
“LX” uses a 1310nm Fabry Perot laser and provides a minimum optical
link budget of 11dB, corresponding to a minimum distance of 10km,
assuming f
iber loss of 0.45dB/km. Option “EX” uses a 1310nm D FB laser
and provides a minimum optical link budget of 18dB,corresponding to
a minimum distance of40km,assuming f
iber loss of0.35dB/km. Options
“YX”and “ZX”use 1550nm D FB lasers and provide a minimum optical link
budgets of 22dB and 24dB respectively,w hich correspond to minimum
distances of 70km and 80km, assuming f
iber loss of 0.25dB/km. A ll

U .S. FD A /CD RH and international IEC-60825 standards.
The transceivers connect to standard 20-pad SFP connectors f hot plug
or
capability. This allow s the system designer to make conf
iguration changes
or maintenance by simply plugging in dif erent types of transceivers
f
w ithout removing the pow er supply f
rom the host system.
The transceivers have colored bail-type latches,w hich of er an easy and
f
convenient w ay to release the modules. The latch is compliant w ith the
SFP M SA .
The transmitter and receiver D ATA interf
aces are AC-coupled internally.
LV-TTL Transmitter D isable control input and Loss of Signal output
interf
aces are also provided.
The transceivers operate f
rom a single +3.3V pow er supply over operating
case temperature ranges of-5°C to +70°C or -40°C to +85°C. The housing
is made ofmetal f EM I immunity.

Electrical Interface:
A ll signal interf
aces are compliant w ith
the SFP M SA speci cation. The high speed D ATA interf
ace
is di erential A C-coupled internally w ith 0.1µF and can be
directly connected to a 3.3V SERD ES IC. A ll low speed control
and sense output signals are open collector TTL compatible
and should be pulled up w ith a 4.7 - 10k resistor on the host
board.
Loss of Signal (LOS):
The Loss of Signal circuit monitors the
level ofthe incoming optical signal and generates a logic H IG H
w hen an insuf icient photocurrent is produced.

TX Fault:
The output indicates LOW w hen the transmitter
is operating normally,and H IG H w ith a laser f
ault including
laser end-of e. TX Fault is an open collector/drain output

and should be pulled up w ith a 4.7 - 10k resistor on the host
