ITT Interconnect Solutions offers a portfolio of product lines specifically suited for transit applications under the brands of Cannon and
VEAM. These product lines offer a variety of shell sizes and contact arrangements, meeting the needs of demanding applications in both
electrical and optical applications. Over time, ICS has grown these product lines to include inserts meeting low smoke, zero halogen, and
RoHS requirements.
In additional to our historical interconnect products, ITT ICS provides complete harnessing solutions and junction box assemblies, meet-
ing the needs of our customers for expanded capability. As the industry leader in harsh environment interconnect applications, ITT`s world
class engineering teams work directly with our Customers to design and develop cost effective solutions for their applications. In many
cases, we modify our standard designs to ensure a reliable solution in a timely fashion. In situations requiring a completely custom solu-
tion, ITT engages directly with our customer`s Engineers to design innovative products meeting their specific requirements for reliability,
functionality, and affordability.
VEAM CIR Connectors
Founded in 1936, VEAM first entered the Circular connectors market in the 1950's. Since then, the VEAM brand now identifies itself
as the premier interconnect for mass transit and rail markets. The expansive VEAM product range is compliant with all of the main MIL
and VG specifications. Showcasing the quality focus of the products, the Lainate, Italy plant is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 compliant and
was recently awarded the IRIS certification. The standard CIR series products are produced according to both railway industries and local
regulations.
The Challenge – High demand for data transmission on trains
The increasing electronics content requirements of modern mass transit systems, i.e. engine diagnostics, brake controls, environmental
conditioning, passenger display systems, networking, lighting control, etc., coupled with increasing data grouping and through-put
requirements continue to mandate innovative solutions in our interconnect products. Consequently, our mass-transit customers approached
ITT ICS requesting solutions to establish reliable connections between coaches, acknowledging the menagerie of data this needs. In particu-
lar, these customers requested a solution for data transmission which bundled multiple Ethernet and MVB lines into a singular connector.

The ITT Solution
Listening to our customer requests, ITT ICS met the challenge by developing our new QXM12 contacts mounted into
FRCIR connector series hardware. With this pioneering design, four conductor wires and the associated braid from
shielded cables are integrated into the QXM12 contact. A special plastic insert groups multiple QXM12 contacts and their
cables into a singular connector. With this connector, our customers may now locate data transfer from Ethernet, MVB,
WTB, and Video lines, according to VG95234, within the same connector.
