Digital Diagnostics Information
COTSWORKS’ RJ parts include additional pins to read and write I2C information per the MSA SFF 8472 specification. While typically
implemented in pluggable modules such as SFPs, all that is required to enable this functionality is two additional pins and internal circuitry in
the transceiver. The circuitry in the COTSWORKS’ RJ is a microcontroller providing EEPROM storage and accessing optical and electrical
information from the laser and receiver.
