Description
The PT5500 is a new series of high perfor-
mance 3.0 Amp, 5-pin Integrated Switching
Regulators (ISRs). This ISR operates from
input voltages as low as 3.0V to provide a
lower voltage power source for the latest
low-voltage logic IC’s. Features include
output voltage adjustment, inhibit function,
and short circuit protection. Only one ex-
ternal capacitor is required for proper
operation.

Notes:
(1)
(2)
(3)
(4)
(5)
The PT5500 Series requires a 100µF electrolytic or tantalum output capacitor for proper operation in all applications.
The ISR will operate down to no load with reduced specifications.
This is a typical value only. The switching frequency will vary with input voltage.
For operation below 0°C, the output capacitor C
2
must have stable characteristics. Use either a low ESR tantalum or Oscon® capacitor.
See SOA curves or consult factory for the appropriate derating.

Note A:
All data listed in the above graphs, except for derating data, has been developed from actual products tested at 25°C. This data is considered typical data for the ISR.
Note B:
Thermal derating graphs are developed in free air convection cooling of 40-60 LFM. (See Thermal Application Notes.)
