5) Do we have portable GFCI’s with NO open-neutral sensing relay?
(All portable GFCI’s that are UL Listed have this important safety feature)
6) Are we an industrial establishment using receptacles to power equipment that:
a) Would create a greater hazard if power was interrupted (such as an
electric air supply for personnel working in a toxic environment), OR
b) Is NOT compatible with GFCI protection? If so, it may require use of the
Assured Equipment Grounding Conductor Program instead of GFCI’s.
Lighting
1) Are we using portable lighting:
a) With a NON-polarized or NON-grounded plug?
b) With cable that is NOT hard- or extra-hard-service-rated?
c) With a handle that is NOT of molded or insulating material?
d) Without a substantial guard attached to the handle?
e) With a metal guard that is NOT grounded through the power supply cord?

2) Do we have areas where vehicles are serviced and portable lighting is used?
Hand lamps must be non-switched and without auxiliary outlet. Exterior surfaces
must be non-conductive. To avoid classification as Class I, Div. 1, a light must be
supported so that it will not reach a classified location (within 18 inches of the floor)
3) Do we currently use stringlights that:
a) Have sockets without guards?
b) Are suspended by a power cord NOT designed for suspension?
c) Are NOT using 2 or 3-wire jacketed cable?
