IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection) is the fa-
stest manual cable connection method available.
It is 60% faster than screw clamping. and 40% fa-
ster than spring clamp connections.
IDC completely removes the need to strip the insu-
lation from the cable.
The unprepared flexible cable is simply inserted in-
to the cable-entry point. The cable slide is then
pushed into place using thumb or screwdriver. and
the connection is then complete.
The main body of the connector houses a V-sha-
ped IDC blade which cuts through the cable insu-
lation and bites into the bare copper. This produ-
ces a gas-tight and vibration-resistant connection.
The Weidmueller IDC connections are designed to
and conform with DIN EN 60 352-4.
