Fiber Distribution Unit 8400 Series provides excellent
fiber cable management at termination points with choices
of splice management, connector types, panel sizes in rack
mount or wall mount configurations.
All 3M Fiber Distribution Units (FDUs)
are constructed of 16-gauge galvanized
steel with attractive powder-coat, baked
epoxy paint in either black or almond
color. The 8400 series FDUs are an easy
choice with simple installation, modular
configurations and highly durable
construction.
All 3M FDUs are packaged including
cable mounting hardware and fiber
retention clips that can be placed into
the customers’ preferred locations. This
allows for flexibility in configuration in
many applications such as the Data
Center, Telecom room, Enterprise
distribution closet, Traffic control
cabinets, and inside pad mounted
Remote Terminals.

Adapter Plates 8400 Series are a common size to
fit across all the FDU panel choices. Plates are configured
with the most common adapter types for connectors
such as SC, LC, ST and FC. Plates can be ordered in
configurations of 6, 8, and 12-port designs. A high-density
24-port LC adapter plate design is also available.

Rack Mount Fiber Distribution Unit 8423
The 8423 patch panel is designed to provide a low-profile 1RU compact solution for termination of 24 simplex SC or up to 72
Quad LC adapters. At less than 44.4 mm (1.75" height), the panel fits easily into one unit of rack space. The addition of the
8423-EXP panel upgrades the unit to up to 48, 72 or 144 ports in two units of rack space. The panel is mounted on glides that
permit front access, drawer-like movement within the rack. The units offer networking and fiber distribution from the vault or
wiring closet to the user’s terminal equipment.
The front of the panel forms a shelf, providing physical
protection for the connectors and routing options for the
patch cords. An optional jumper cover (8423BK-1UC)
is available to protect patch cords from being snagged.
Designed for 19" rack mounting, the 8423 panel is easily
adapted to 23" rack mounting with the addition of the
8423BK-BKT bracket kit.
