In 1857 when Mathias Klein first set up shop in
Utility Catalog Supplement
Chicago’s bustling downtown business district,
the “communications industry” amounted to
nothing more than a few bare wires hung on lean
telegraph poles. As America expanded and the
utilities industry grew, Klein Tools established a
reputation for manufacturing high quality tools to
