Balancers and tool support systems by

workstations can be organized more

This Selection Guide is to be used only as a
reference for non-ratchet lock devices. See
the main pages for ratchet balancer specs.
Actual selection depends on weight to be

Positioners use an adjustable friction
brake to support the weight of the sus-
pended tool or object. The object can be
placed in any position within the cable
travel range and it will remain in that
position. The object can be moved down-
ward with very little effort, depending on
the adjustment; however, the full weight
of the object must be lifted to move it
upward.
Retractors

Retracts tools to upper position

Retract up to 10 kg/22 lb
Retractors are designed to retract the
cable when no force is applied. An amount
of downward force must be continually
applied to keep the suspended object at
its extended position. The torque output
of the rewind spring increases as the cable
is extended, retracting the suspended
object to the uppermost adjusted position
when released.
Balancers

Very little effort to move tool
I
Balance up to 168 kg/370 lb
Balancers allow the worker to move the
suspended tool or object up or down
with very little effort. Depending on the
spring adjustment, object will remain in
position or retract when no force is
applied. With a spiral groove on a
tapered drum, the winding radius is
increased to match the torque buildup of
the spring, thus neutralizing it and
achieving a balance condition.
