High density, board-to-board power connector for
high current power supply applications
MINIPAK is a high density power connector that delivers unprecedented
levels of current in a very small footprint. MINIPAK is ideal for use in
front hot swappable power supplies designed to deliver high current to
the backplane in space-constrained environments. In high power
CompactPCI and other EuroRack packaging designs, MINIPAK reduces
overall system cost by achieving output levels that would otherwise
require two connectors.
Lots of Power in Just 3.7" (94 mm)
Thanks to a footprint of just 3.7 inches
(94 mm) long and high current contacts for
output at multiple voltage levels, MINIPAK
makes it possible to design power supply-to-
backplane interfaces with current levels that
cannot be achieved using any current industry
standard power connector of this size.
Plenty of Design Options
Elcon can accommodate application-specific
requirements by tailoring MINIPAK with
options like selective contact loading, non-
standard sequencing and alternate termination

Elcon’s high performance Crown Band contact
is at the heart of MINIPAK, providing excellent
electrical and mechanical performance. The
graph below shows single and multiple contact
performance in terms of current versus
temperature rise and millivolt drop.
Lower Cost in cPCI Designs
High current CompactPCI power supplies that
would require two power connectors per the
PICMG standard can instead use a single
MINIPAK, reducing the overall cost of the
power delivery system.
