Please note: As part of the Fairchild Semiconductor integration, some of the Fairchild orderable part numbers
will need to change in order to meet ON Semiconductor’s system requirements. Since the ON Semiconductor
product management systems do not have the ability to manage part nomenclature that utilizes an underscore
(_), the underscore (_) in the Fairchild part numbers will be changed to a dash (-). This document may contain
device numbers with an underscore (_). Please check the ON Semiconductor website to verify the updated
device numbers. The most current and up-to-date ordering information can be found at

Description
The FAN8303 is a monolithic, non-synchronous, step-
down (buck) regulator with internal power MOSFETs. It
achieves 2 A continuous output current over a wide
input supply range with excellent load and line
regulation. Current-mode operation provides fast
transient response and eases loop stabilization. Fault
condition protection includes cycle-by-cycle current
limiting and thermal shutdown. The regulator draws less
than 40 µA shutdown current. FAN8303 requires a
minimum number of readily available standard external
components.
External compensation, enable, and programmable
soft-start features allow design optimization and
flexibility. Cycle-by-cycle current limit, frequency
foldback, and thermal shutdown provide protection
against shorted outputs.
