DESCRIPTION
The SA471-033 low dropout linear regulator will provide a fixed output
voltage from a fluctuating DC input voltage. The Maximum current
capacity is 1A.

Description
FUNCTION DESCRIPTION
The SA471-033 low dropout linear regulator provides fixed output voltage at currents up to 1A. It contains
output current limiting, thermal shutdown protection and overvoltage protection.
INPUT, OUTPUT CAPACITOR AND STABILITY
An input bypass capacitor is recommended to improve transient response. This will reduce the circuit’
s
sensitivity to the input line impedance at high frequencies and significantly enhance the output transient response.
The bypass capacitor should be mounted with shortest possible lead or track length directly across the regulator’
s
input terminals and GND.
The output capacitor is required for stability. Since fluctuations in the value of the capacitor due to temperature
changes may cause oscillation, a tantalum electrolytic capacitor with a small internal series resistance (ESR) is
recommended. A 22µF capacitor is recommended; however, be aware that if an extremely large capacitance is
used (1000µF or greater), then oscillations may occur at low frequencies. Therefore, be sure to perform the
appropriate verifications before selecting the capacitor.
